When I was in my twenties, I thought nothing of getting on a bike and going for a hundred mile ride into the hills. It was something that I really enjoyed doing. Then for some reason it all stopped, more or less overnight. It probably had something to do with women, children and employment. Life seems to have a way of making sudden changes to what we do. Now in my forties, and gaining a few extra pounds around the waist, I have decided that it is now time to start getting healthy again.
As I am well past my sell by date for cycling, I have decided on weight lifting. This means that I will get to stay in the house, and can workout while I watch the television or listen to music. Using weights the correct way will tone up a lot of my muscles, and by pushing myself, I will also be giving my heart a decent cardio workout, which many doctors agree, is a good thing. So, all I need to do now is go out and buy some weight lifting equipment for fitness. I will do that first thing tomorrow morning.
